Daniel Costa is On The Bit, Inc’s visionary founder. He started riding horses at age 8, dreaming of owning his own farm one day. In 2018, that dream became a reality with the On The Bit, Inc. farm. Daniel is a U.S. National Champion rider, and has numerous local, regional and national top-ten wins. Daniel intuitively understands horses and his goal is to grow the farm's team with champion level Arabian and Half Arabian equine athletes with the same drive to win as Daniel himself. Daniel specializes in Saddleseat riding, Country English Pleasure, Show Hack, Fine Harness Driving, Mounted Arabian Native Costume. Riding and loving to share his passion for a good ride with others. At On The Bit, Inc., he is often found riding horses in preparation for the next show and pondering the farm's next big move as we ride forward for the roses.
Liana Costa is co-founder of On The Bit, Inc. (OTB), a Clayton, CA farm specializing in Purebred Arabian and Half Arabian horses, focusing on Saddleseat, Hunter Pleasure, Ranch Riding and Racing. She is an accountant, an experienced small business operator, and a dedicated horsewoman specializing in breeding OTB’s Arabian and Half Arabian horses. Liana loves the details of an excellent ride: Saddleseat, Fine Harness Driving, Mounted Arabian Native Costume, and more. Liana is passionate about the Arabian Horse Association’s Discovery Farm Program, of which OTB is a part, and she enjoys introducing people to Arabian horses for the first time. Liana was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Arabian Racing Association of California. She is also a dedicated partner to her husband, Daniel Costa.
Leigha Perry, the Head Trainer of On The Bit, Inc. has been an extraordinarily dedicated Arabian and Half Arabian rider and trainer for over 30 years. She was first introduced to riding horses at Castle Rock Arabians in Walnut Creek, CA, by Nancy Dupont, a renowned pioneer in horsemanship, where Perry entered the world of competitive trail riding at age nine. She competed extensively throughout her youth until meeting trainer Rob Bick, who suggested she try the show ring. Perry quickly fell in love with the horse show atmosphere and competed extensively in that arena. At the age of 18, she went from Groom to Assistant Trainer under Bick while competing at the national and local levels. Her first U.S. Nationals showing was in 1990, and she’s won numerous awards throughout her career. Her passion for horses, teaching and her compassion has made her the trainer she is today. Perry especially loves working with children and teens, helping develop the mutual, lifelong love between horses and their riders. Her motto is, "pride in the ride is forever!". At OTB, she is responsible for assisting with caring for our Champion Arabian and Half Arabian horses. Her work includes preparing individualized meal plans and managing tasks like blanketing and grooming. Farrow works closely with Head Trainer, Leigha Perry, preparing horses for and teaching lessons at the farm. Farrow enjoys communicating with these beautiful animals and sharing with others the means to do so, too.

Saul's love for horses and ranch life started at a young age, as he grew up surrounded by animals and a family deeply involved in ranching and horses. He began working in barns at the age of 19, gaining hands-on experience and developing a keen understanding of horse care and management. He occasionally enjoys riding the horses as well, further cementing his bond with these magnificent animals.
Saul's horse care and management training has been primarily through practical experience, learning from his work, and interactions with the horses themselves. Saul takes pride in the relationships he builds with the horses, as he gets to see and interact with them daily. He believes that spending time with the horses creates a bond, and he enjoys the moments when the horses recognize him and eagerly await their morning care. Saul is also responsible for managing the horses' diet, which typically includes grass, alfalfa, and hay grass, with the specific details determined by Leigha, the head trainer at On The Bit, Inc.
His dedication to the well-being of the horses and maintaining a clean and organized ranch environment is evident in his meticulous approach to his work as the Foreman at On The Bit, Inc.

Josh Shelby is one of On The Bit, Inc.'s dedicated grooms, responsible for providing top-notch care for the horses. His duties include brushing and washing the horses and managing essential leg and foot care. In addition, he takes care of lunging the horses, ensuring they are well-prepared for rides and receive daily exercise.

Outside of his work at On The Bit, Inc., Josh's favorite pastime is trail riding. During his spare time, you can often find him exploring the breathtaking Mt. Diablo trails. He cherishes the opportunity to ride the trails conveniently located near On The Bit, Inc.'s farm, allowing him to indulge in his passion whenever possible.
